I'd say that for most outdoor applications paracord can do it all, so I guess, why not go for it. Reasonable strength at a lightweight.
It doesn't seem to fray easily either (along its length, the ends are another story if you don't seal them with fire).

Also, you can get cheap string/rope on spools that is great for a lot of jobs. No need to buy into too much hype...
