It's not what I would call necessary but it's somewhat interesting and fun, probably not worth the money, the cheaper bluetooth one loses connection all the time and you can't get reconnected until it's close to the device again.
So if you do decide to get one, get one with WiFi connection, those might be better since their range is much higher.
Only get it if you're a richfag to play with a toy.
