>>353198>>353225>>353557The last one is the lone coyote(s) which we hear fairly often, and those are pretty much similar to the howls in the first two. But of course i wasn't in the woods with the pack to see. I've listened to wolves, for example, and they are quite different. Not sure what to make of it. There has been a lot of chatter lately from the pups/yearlings, and usually in response to that there'll be a low bellowing howl from mama/papa (or so I reckon).
The only other odd sound we've gotten around lately are the occasional bear cubs hooting but they don't really sound like that.
Below are the spectra of both recordings (left is 15s of the yelping/howling recording from this past weekend, right is 15s of the lone howl I recorded last year). The vocalisation range and overall spectra are more or less the same.
