I could understand this sentiment back in early April when when country was on lockdown but now that's pretty much over now, save for the most high risk spaces (gyms, theaters, dine in restaurants etc). If New Yorkers can pack central Park without masks on then it's fine for me to go hiking. Just avoid crowded trailheads, carry disinfectant, keep a bandana around your neck so you can mask up if someone gets close and step off the trail while passing people. Hiking is a no risk activity as long as you actually attempt to follow basic Covid precautions.
