I had a great evening of fishing yesterday. It was also quite odd. I was in a creek and caught 1 chub, 4-5 bluegill, 5 bass, 2 suckers, 1 baby cat. I saw the biggest turtle in my life outside of a zoo tonight. That was scary because I had to cross the water near where it went in to get back to my stuff and my car. When I did finally get to my car, it was pretty dark. There were two cars parked. A man and a woman were there. The man, who was coming from the shadows, appeared to be holding a cat, but this is rather absurd, so I figured it must be a dog. It was, in fact, an orange house cat. I saw another cat sitting by a tree in my headlights, and before I left, I saw a third.
Can someone help me identify the species in my pic? I know it's a bass. I'm just not sure if it's a largemouth or smallmouth.
