The biggest difference is that the muscovy head has brown on top while the mallard has black. Now, there's brown with black spotted feathers appearing. I did think it was odd that it hatched out as the 1st duckling when they have an incubation length that is around 10 days longer than Pekins. I figured it was a hybrid of some sort. Now, I talked with someone from the parent duck's old home and it seems there were wild mallards there, but no rouens. Mallards have flown into my pond on occasion too. lol
