>>1608622I was trolling lures in the Gulf this week, and snapped a foot and a half off of my 7.5 foot Calico Jack. I know it's a cheap rod, but I have to budget my gear expenses. I used a rod tip repair kit and trolled it as a shortie. It held up very well. I even had a dolphin try to steal a skipjack, and I fought him all the way to the board. I felt like shit, thinking I hooked him accidentally, but he spit it at the board like, "That was fun! Later chump!"
It was the best fight of the week, and the rod held its own very well.
