The tree was here when we moved in and whoever planted it wasn't thinking because it's about 5 feet from a now enormous blue spruce so grows in perpetual shade. It's also had a blight the whole time and I've kept meaning to dig it out but just never got around to it. For some reason this year there's been no sign of the blight and it actually produced fruit. A bunch got picked off by squirrels but I protected these and they're almost ready now. So exciting.
Next big job is going to be covering the grapes in chicken wire because since I trimmed them now each year about 4-5 days before they'll start to be ready squirrels eat them all over night. Plastic netting last year just got bit through so now all bets are off. It'll be ugly for a while but this year the grapes are mine. Well I'll leave them some, but most are mine!
