https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myO4lbBtcG0I like some minimalist shoes/boots (Xero leather/Vivobarefoot) that use glue instead of direct attach. I just keep some shoe goo in case they start to lose adhesive, which they haven't yet; however,
i'd never go back to welted boots. I was in wildland firefighting with the White's boots. I knew a person that needed a knee replacement by the time he was 30 and a guy whose doctor told him he'd be lucky to be walking at 50. The wildland fire industry is moving away from the welted logger boots toward polyurethane.
There's a lot of shit manufacturers if you aren't looking around, but I have enough injuries as is and want my body to keep working when i'm old so I can farm at 80.
Only thing I like welted boots for with their weight is a cowboy boots to slip on for a quick jaunt outside, or maybe if the world was going to end and I was going to die in less than a decade anyways.
