>>2332881Idk man, you do you but I wash my tent after every trip. You've never rinsed off your tent? Even after an entire trip of non-stop rain?
>wear away at any dwrIt's not like you're using a washing machine, but DWR will wear off quickly anyway. You reapply yearly.
At the very least you need to sweep it out/shake it out and hang it up after a trip... But I hose it off, soap + sponge on sap or dirt stains, toothbrush the zippers if you camped in sandy area, then in the summer months when there's some sun, I'll apply Nikwax DWR + UV to the fly and the floor+bathtub sides while the tent is still wet, let it sit a bit and then sponge it around a bit and let try.
Do the same to your backpack's rainfly. Also good to clean off your pegs, scrub your stuff sacks, soak your backpack with water+vinegar then rinse and hang up to dry.
Like a car, there's an actual reason to wash it regardless of aesthetics. Dirt, sap, animal shit, bug guts, sand, whatever else will degrade your tent fabric over time.
Not washing it is weirder to me.
