I'm going hammock camping in Central America. But I'm suddenly concerned about snakes, particularly the Fer de Lance pit viper. They are nocturnal, fast, aggressive, camouflaged, highly venomous. They've killed a Nat-Geo herpetologist and disfigured a producer for the Naked and Afraid series on Discovery.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onQxirpZkmESince snake repellents don't seem to work, would I be safer in an enclosed tent or in a netted hammock?
