I've got knives that cost a lot more, but don't fit the hand as well or don't cut as well. They have a comparatively lame frame lock instead of based Axis goodness. Some of them don't have powdered metallurgy steel. It's also a nice thought that this particular Griptilian is unique and was manufactured specifically for myself...and if I somehow end up retarded and can't maintain my own tools anymore, Benchmade will give it the spa treatment for free. Since I purchased mine years ago, I'd say my little 551 has paid for itself by now.
