So was Western North Carolina. I didn't have to drive 50 to 100 miles through public land just to find somewhere where I could leave my car. That's a completely new and alien situation to me. I can only assume that the posters here have never been to this area and are just going by what they see on online maps. That's what I did and that's why I moved here to begin with. I never could have imagined that there were places with this much public land but no way to get off the road to actually utilize it. Incredibly strange and disappointing.
