That's flagging. It's just used to mark things and make them more visible. Most likely it's marking a route to follow or possibly a boundary. Really common for land managers or people working out in the woods to use as temporary guidance.

This. I tell people all the time if they don't like a law or policy that the USFS enforces they should probably start voting. The agency is part of the executive branch and it turns out you get a say in who runs that branch.

I work for the USFS in the PNW. Summers are great weather and fun times working outside in dev rec sites. Winters are spent hiding from the rain and snow. Pay is pretty good considering the actual difficulty of the job.

Elk and Deer make some amazing chili. Keeps the meat perfectly tender in a slow cooker. The only way my GF and I have chili anymore.

I run Husqvarna saws at work and own two Stihl saws. Anyone who gets in some kind of pissing contest about the two is usually an idiot, their performance is nearly identical.

I'm hopefully going to cut some firewood tomorrow with my MS660. Just put a new dual port exhaust on it, rebuilt the carb, new air filter and new fuel filter. I expect it to rip!

USFS crew lead for a very high use developed recreation area/trails unit. Got on permanently after 4 seasons. It's not perfect but it's pretty damn good.
