>>1609034It's an MLD solomid. It's a bombproof shelter. Some would consider it overkill for a thru of a national scenic trail. I was to hike to CDT I'd take a flat tarp or a hexamid.
I just used a hexamid on my pfiffner traverse and really liked it. Pic related.
>>1609066I used to love long, long hikes, but now I'm starting to get burnt out on the fact that most thru hikes just connect the good stuff with a lot of boring stuff. Personally I'm now more drawn to shorter routes. Another thing is that a lot of the long US trail have had the adventure and mystery sucked out of them by the navigation apps like guthooks. It's like hike by numbers. With an electronic device telling you where to camp, where to resupply, where to get water. It makes it easier for people which is ok I suppose, but it's sort of killed it for me.
>>1609145Even on the the HRP resupply is fairly simple. They aren't very remote mountains. If you are hiking at a reasonable pace then you'll be near a shop every 4-5 days. If you are a fit hiker than 4 days of food is the most you'll carry.
