>>2277538Irrigation? You're dreaming if you wanted to irrigate these hills. Fences of course I do a lot of fencing because some of these fences are older than I am, but I try to keep it up to scratch and especially before summer because fuck fencing all day in this heat. Pesticides and pollutants? None here as I didn't use any? Although I did spray the weeds but that was in spring? The feed and behaviour? Yeah I do a daily round sometimes twice a day this time of year which takes a few hours if nothing needs doing and shift anything that needs to be shifted and notice anything which needs attention. Mainly the water system this time of year which tends to explode and piss out everywhere but this particular paddock has a spring in it as well so it doesn't cause me too much stress. Do I do anything for their health? Of course I do, I will take them down to the yards once a month to weigh and give any treatments, or grab anything urgent as it pops up. 6 different mobs of cattle though plus the sheep and a long trip to the yards. I'm not going to make them run down there and poke and prod them and chase them back up every other day. Last month this mob put on over 1kg a head per day, we had some good early summer rain, it's not likely to fucking snow, and I would love for some more. Did I take them to the vet? Are you serious? The vet comes to me. If you squint you can probably see 130 cattle down there in this 60 acre paddock.
I'm no richfag I pay a hefty lease but I also make a good income. Get contractors for any hay cut, only that which I keep here, and for shearing. Would love to hire an extra hand in the next few years though.. this is not a huge block by standards in my country but it is probably near the limit for one person and a few good dogs to run.
Worry about whats on your own side of the fence don't be such a smart arse because not every place runs like your own.
