Thoroughly sun-damaged (including the kevlar). The $120 leather riding gloves? Worn-out at the fingertips. The $500 Nolan helmet? Yep, need a new one. The $300 riding jacket? Looks completely purple in polarised light, showing how much its been baked by the sun, plus all the elastic buckles shredded and had to be cut off.
You'll want adequate gear-- but dropping down the $$$ is ill-advised.
Luckily for me, I met a former Postie Adventure rider at the Willare Roadhouse, who gave me new stuff!
