>>460057first i would build a sauna for a temporary shelter, then build an outhouse, then build a dugout, then build a log cabin and use the dugout for a root cellar/storage. gotta have me a sauna. it would be part of my overall innawoods camp compound. as for my primary abode, i would prob go with a 2 room log cabin. have the chimney in between the 2 rooms so each side can have a stove. wood cookstove in the main living/kitchen area. simple little stove for bedroom area. having a small loft area above the 2 rooms would be a bonus. potentially 2 spare bedrooms for guests. worrying about heating isnt really an issue unless your building a huge house. if its just a small retreat then a small woodstove or fireplace would be enough.
