Minor update. These pics are from a couple days ago. Most everything seems to be doing fine. The rhubarb has been having trouble, I think I'll pull it and put it in different soil in a shadier spot. The weather has been super wet lately. The corn, potatoes, and sorghum in the garden of clay don't seem to like it. Even the weeds are having trouble there. Everything in raised beds is going nuts with growth and fruiting. That includes the purple majesty potatoes, which are blooming and have nearly taken over not only their bed but the walkways beside it too. It is kind of amazing how well they are doing. Watermelon , zucchini, crookneck squash, tomatoes, and cucumber fruit are all coming on.
The score of the groundhog war is:
Groundhogs: 28
Farmer: 8
The conibear trap has been devastating on their ranks. I've been moving the trap and filling tunnels as I go. The hole I filled last night was completely excavated so I'll be moving the trap again. I need 3 traps for proper coverage. the chipmunk living in my asparagus bed has started to become a problem. I'm getting a rat trap and some mouse traps to make traps for the chipmunk and voles.
