>>2598429i hate jigging with drop shot because the hook goes in the hook keeper on my rod but the drop shot weight swings free, wraps around things, generally annoying. also drop shot more twisty for the line and the grub rotates instead of jigging up and down
>>2598437for little pond panfish like pumpkinseeds when they are picrelated
>>2598446that might be what I do from now on
>>2598423might try superglue we'll see how it goes. split shots definitely fall off too easily and that's one of the problems we've already identified with a potential switch over.
>>2598429seems like its either the split shots option which I'm not in love with or potentially a tungsten weighted fly hook which is probably an 'order from the internet' kind of deal.
#8 sized hooks and a 3 inch grub work great for things like crappie or rock bass, but I want to fish a 1 inch grub and a #12 hook for small pumpkinseeds and bluegills in the pond and I wanna do it with a rig that isn't finicky or troublesome the way drop shot rig tends to be at that weight - swinging all over, wrapping itself or the rod/rods while I'm walking, also more prone to wrapping up on a branch during a bad cast and become unrecoverable causing break off of the rig. etc.
We're going to do a bit more testing with hook+split shot and possibly glue combinations to see if there is a replacement possible for the drop shot which I've fished for many years and caught tons of fish on but also hate for reasons mentioned.
