Been wearing a pair of Vasque something-or-anothers (they're discontinued and I can't find the models) and I absolutely love them. Got them clearance at REI probably 4-5 years ago and they've been through some shit. Still going strong.
I also copped a pair of Altama Foxhound for less than $100 at a discount barn, and I wore them for the first time today (I'm a forestry technician) and they seem to be really good so far. Lots of ankle support and they have lots of cushion and some gnarly tread.
Both pairs I have worn on the trails, both dry and wet conditions, and at my job which entails trekking through deep woods in the mountains. I enjoy them both and I would highly recommend them.
