Used all homemade dehydrated foods on 3 backpacking trips this past summer. Made food for both me and the gf. Cost significantly less than buying freeze dried meals. Some of our recipes tasted better than others. Some didn’t dehydrate well at all and were scrapped altogether. Big plus is the control of ingredients and caloric content, protein, fats and macronutrients. I’d highly recommend reheating a portion at home before you go /out just to make sure it rehydrates into something edible.
