I figure it could be passable for defense, and as a walking stick it should be fine, but I don't know what else you'd use it for.
Personally, I'd carry a rifle on my back for defense, but I don't know where you live so your laws might not be very permissible.

You really really should just rather opt for a gun instead, wolves hunt in packs, and that's not going to be fun trying to fend for yourself with a spear against. Bears are muscled beasts with sharp claws, I'd avoid them if possible (though black-bears are cowards, you can shout at them and they'll typically run), I'd rather have a spear than nothing if facing a bear, but fuck if I wouldn't have all the odds against me.
