>>773156Octopus are what I would use, since you don't thread the entire hook into the live bait, you want a hook like an octopus or circle hook with a short shank that will not detract from the natural presentation. I don't use minnows a lot but fishing them under a float with no weight or a small split shot is a good tactic. Another is to tie a drop shot rig, but with the hook on a couple inches of leader instead of right on the mainline. Use between 1/2 and 1 oz weight, cast, and tighten up (this method would be if you want to feel bites rather than see them). I assume you are going for bass?
