>>1637204It really depends on the moisture level, the amount of worms in the bin, and how much scrap is on top already. Temperature also plays an important role in that. If you need to go on vacation for like two weeks then put the bin someplace very cool, make sure the moisture content is correct, and add a layer of scraps on top. It could probably last a month like that under idea conditions.
>>1637207I've dealt with nutsedge before. The corms are really deep and the water just can't get the ground hot enough that deep. Some farmers actually rent a steam service. That will either cover the soil then pump steam into a bag over it or have this big machines that has hollow rods that inject steam into the soil down very deep. The latter (pic) is what is used when there's a big problem like weed tubers/rhizomes/corms that are too deep or crop diseases that stay in the soil and soil sterilization is unable to get down that deep.
