take for example that all the trees were dead, well there's a number of edible fungi that thrive on dead trees along with grubs that eat dead trees. even if we were to shit up the planet bad enough where we couldn't breath the earths atmosphere. as long as the moon is still in orbit there will be tides and with tides there will be life in the earths ocean. I guess the point I'm trying to make is short of a major astrological event; the planet will always have life on it.
