>>1248810this is years in right? he didn't strike me as a man who was mentally conditioned or rigorous in his attempt to survive, more like a desperate person afraid of dying. it would make sense to make him physically vulnerable, they are more like homeless people roughing it than say survivalist/hunter gatherers who have adapted. i think system survival guys probably crack a few months in when their gear begins to deteriorate and they need to rely on skills which they don't have or practice enough. desperate survivalists, eg people who just barely get by, should technically have a better chance because they are less likely to overestimate their abilities.
im thinking something like: hunting and not cooking bad meat, having the shits for weeks and dying of dehydration, maybe getting tick bites or attracting predators to improperly disposed of gutpile vs losing 30lbs and eating out of dog food tins for the same period of time, while slowly moving across roads which animals avoid out of habit.
