well your coat isnt the most important thing unless you have no coat at all.
most important thing is the wool underlayer, legs and shirt cost 50$ a pop.
coat you shouldnt cheap out on too much but you dont need a 400$ canada goose.

i also wear a wool buff but theyre pricy. when i winter camp i wear two toques as well.
these gloves are around 30 bucks, but theyre the warmest ive ever used, and ive used them to touch solid steel constantly in blast freezers(-25 to -45)
