First off, that's not a blowgun dart; if you look at the back you can see the nock (the slot that fits over the bowstring.)
Seconldy, if you look at the arrowhead, it's a blunt range/practice tip. Those should never be used to hunt with, only practice target shooting with. They're designed to be easy to remove from targets, but will result in 'clean' wounds that don't bleed in animals, which will eventually get infected and cause the animal to die slowly and painfully over the course of days or possibly weeks. Even if the shot was well-aimed.
A proper hunting broadhead (pic related) will ensure massive bleeding and cause even large animals to die quickly (unless you have retarded shot placement like aiming for the head to get a 2PRO NOSCOPE HEADSHOT) and are what hunters use to hunt with. In fact in some states only allow broadheads, or very specific types of broadheads, for bowhunting.
What happened in your pic, sadly, is some middleschool faggot had his mom buy him a bow and some range arrows at Sports Authority after he promised not to hurt anything with it. Then when he saw a flock of those birds eating insects off a lawn in suburbia he took a shot at one and managed to hit the thing when it had it's neck down eating delicious bugs (look at the angle of entry; it's either that or this faggot brought his bow on a nature boardwalk, or the faggot can fucking fly) and the thing was able to fly off so it could, at best, get eaten by a predator shortly afterwards or be put out of its misery by some kinder human, or at worst, spend the next two weeks slowly dying as infection spreads and it becomes to weak to seek food and dies sickly and starving.
