I found a phone-pic of my own strawberries with the runners/plantlets showing. If I see some developing, I put them in a small pot with some dirt. This makes replanting them after severing them from the motherplant easier; I won't have to dig them up. I always end up with way more than I have space for or even can give away. If you know somebody who cultivates strawberries, ask them if you can have some.
