Some shortness of breath is to be expected, and a light headache may accompany it, but don't push on if it goes beyound that.
Highest peak I've climbed is Kilimanjaro at 5895m a decade ago. Bit of a meme, except for the final summit push which is still tough, but I caught the mountaineering bug. Second highest was Elbrus east summit last year via North route. Amazing, but shit weather during summit push, pic related.
