I've camped on the beach on N Padre Island in TX in a tent and it wasn't too bad. Winds were ~20 MPH so make sure you have a sturdy tent and long stakes to keep it on the ground. You'll want plenty of water and loose fitting clothing + sunscreen to combat the sun, there won't be any shade around at all so take that into consideration. Try to time the hike for when the tide is going out so you can walk on the smooth, compacted sand left behind by the receding water; walking in dry, loose sand wears you out FAST and walking on a 3ft deep mat of seaweed isn't any better.
It's also pretty much impossible to ride a loaded down motorcycle any appreciable amount of distance on a beach during high tide as I found out...
