I'd like to say that Honda's engines/bikes have a really good reputation, but really, for any non-freakishly-long trip, any bike (..or scooter) in good mechanical condition iz gud.
That being said, go for the bike with the best cargo option. Hard panniers where you can leave your stuff in like a cupboard is better than my setup with everything having to be packed and unpacked from a duffle bag...
Being mentally prepared for any eventuality is the best way to do things. I had two mechanical problems with the Postie on the trip-- a chain link breaking (which I didn't have a spare), and a chain-tensioner also breaking; I didn't have spares for those at the time, but sitting down and thinking about the options, and then... pushing the bike out of the way and travelling to the near motorbike dealer (and meeting some Harley owners who were tripping over themselves to help out a Postie rider from the other side of the country..) got everything sorted with no drama at all.
