Just tested the action of a lure I made over the winter. It should work well for bass when it has a spinner attached and it performs well running through the water with the spinner. For sunfish, it is best without the spinner since they tend to bite the spinner instead of the hook area, but it really isn't for sunfish.
>>824947I just cut it to size and hook it on the hook. Fitting it up on the shank provides more solid strikes. Having it down at the bottom curve of the hook makes for many missed strikes.
When I use it in other lure making I just super glue it in place as needed. It is curling ribbon so all you have to do to make it curled is to drag it across an edge like on a pair of scissors with your thumb pressing against it. After affixing it, you can use whatever top layer coat you want, if you're so inclined.
