>>2187462Like anon said, pack is either too loose, so each strand of smoldering tobacco isn't close enough to light its neighbor. Or it's too tight, so you're not getting enough airflow to maintain combustion. And if you're smoking slow (which is ideal), you're introducing less oxygen for a given time, so your burn will be all the more sensitive to a shitty pack. Tobacco also burns more readily when it's dryer, but you don't want it so dry that it tastes like ass. So you can play around with humidity too. But odds are, it's your pack density that's the culprit.
Also, anecdotally, I find that a layer of lightly tamped ash on top of the tobacco (which you can get after a few minutes of smoking) really helps insulate the tobacco and reduce the cooldown between puffs. I always notice a marked improvement in ease of keeping it lit once I get the ash layer going, but ymmv.
