as that handgun is useless if you don't pay attention to what's going on around you and blindly walk into
trouble but in this particular case, the bike rider clearly saw the threat early on when the robbers came
running out from the woods and he stopped well before they got to him and had plenty of time to draw
his own handgun (if he had been carrying one).
