>>2163217My rotation at the moment:
Sutliff - MATCH Walnut:
An almost perfect match (according to several old pipers, they have the exact recipe) of the discontinued John Middleton blend. It's a kitchen sink English/American blend. Latakia, Orientals, Perique, Virginia, Burley. Lighter than your average english, nice "incense" aroma, good thick smoke. I don't detect a topping, but it's sweet and smoky.
Edward G Robinson's Blend:
This ones a weird one. It's an aromatic, but not like the danish goopy ones. Like the stuff you used to be able to get over the counter in drugstores from a jar. A classic tobacco-forward, american aromatic blend.
Good, full tobacco flavor. Cavendish, Burley, and Latakia. Some kind of light plum topping. Very "pipey" smelling room note and taste, if that make sense. It's comforting, and I love smelling it on my clothes.
This was Shelby Foote's favorite tobacco.
Dark, moody. I love it, might be my #2 right now in rotation.
Capstan Blue:
I think we've all seen enough reviews of this. The king of virginias. Bready, grassy, citrusy flavor. I don't really care for the smell it leaves behind, it smells like a guy smoking a ciggie in a bakery after it sits in your mustache for a few hours. The flavor is a step "darker" than Orlik Golden sliced. A good summer blend.
