>>1344008Why do we require an entirely new word when one already exists? Changing even one tiny thing implies that they have stolen the word from us and that we had to replace it, that we have been conquered in our own language. American is ours, they can come up with something else. This is already happening with the American flag, they attack it and call it white supremacist/nazi/bigot, wear it like crazy and let them make the case that it is our flag. They will police the language for us. We don't need a new term for American, stick to our guns and let them come up with new terms. Do not let them conquer our language or symbols, this is all about who blinks first and in the case of the flag they blinked, let them blink with the term American too.
This is a whole problem we have had with leftists over 50 years, they call themselves 'real Americans' and attack anyone who disagrees. In an effort to hold the moral high ground we refused to engage and defended ourselves, the right response was to massively overuse the flag and call them anti-American.
>a REAL American is pro-immigrant>a REAL American is anti-immigrantThis is literally a fight of who can overuse the symbol harder and shout louder, the side that uses it half-heartedly always adopts new symbols.
