>>2003559First of all, the alu toxicity is a bit overblown, as long as you don't cook acidic stuff in it too much your exposure will be below significant levels, you are ingesting way worse things in way higher amounts everyday. That being said, those military style mess kits are a bit cumbersome for a solo outfag, not really good for cooking or eating out of, can live with it, but you are doing yourself no favors there. If you are looking for something versatile and with a reasonable price tags you may look for something like in the pic, it's a standard scout mess kit here, made in stainless steel but thin enough not to weight a ton and brand new is ~$30. Personally i would add a steel frying pan to that and you are set.
