I think pedal drive yaks are fantastic, but they are a little too high, both in weight and price. I have an old Seaquest 10 paddle board that I decked out with a seat and crate with rod holders. With all gear, I am not exceeding 70 lbs, so I can carry it pretty far with ease, if need be. I have a buddy with a pedal drive yak, and he never wants to use it because it's unwieldy as hell, even with wheels, which don't work everywhere we take our craft out. I also have a fairly inexpensive inflatable SUP for even more remote locations. Here's something from my most recent salty excursion.
