>>1851966I don’t think you understand the point of layering... it’s so you can take on and off layers as necessary so you don’t sweat. Snowshoeing 10 miles to camp in 15 degree weather might just need a fleece, pants, and gaiters. But once you get to camp and stop moving, and the temperature starts dropping, you’re sure as shit going to need more layers. Another scenario is hiking innawoods, and then hitting treeline (in both summer or winter). Once you hit treeline and get out of the trees and are exposed to the wind, the temperature/wind chill is going to drop 20-30 degrees and you’re going to need more layers than what you were wearing up to that point.
