WOOHOO! First (real) pepper harvest. Left a few more on the plants that looked like they could grow some more. Hoping they'll flower again and grow one more batch before first frost in late October, and red by then. This is 15 peppers picked, with 4 left unpicked for a total of 19 peppers between 7 plants, plus 3 that I picked a few days ago for a total of 22. Not bad. Not bad at all.
At the same time, I've got 5 tomatoes growing now too. It really does seem weather is the deciding factor here, as it has been low-mid 90's for a while now here, as well as frequently cloudy.
Even more exciting are my accidental/"volunteer" pumpkins. 8 of them nearing maturity now, starting to turn orange and, despite its current pest problem, are growing even more pumpkins. Counted 4 growing new ones. I'm just simply utterly astonished at the trucking power of these fuckers. Constant new vine growth, new foliage growth, new flower growth, and new pumpkin growth, in spite of everything thrown at it. I suspect the soil has a lot to play in that, and it's managed to burrow tons of secondary vines into the ground as well, which explains the constant pumpkin growth without sacrificing size.
Same with the butternut, actually. That plant (or plants, there might have been like 2 or 3) are producing like MAD fucking crazy. Besides the 6 we've already picked, there must be like at least 10-12 or even 15 more in varying stages of maturity. Seriously impressive.
Amazing. Good fucking year. How are your harvests coming along? Problems along the way?
