I had a spanish mate from on here who was wanting to come up, only time he could because of uni schedule was January.
It was a chilly week we had, didn't do as much real hillwalking as we planned because of the weather, I think one of the days I checked the weather and saw the summit of ben nevis was -11C with a 'feels like -24' windchill.
You might find that alot of places, especially the higher altitude you go up, become pretty tough and dangerous, but winter camping and /out/ing is do-able.
pro tip: If bothies are open by then, bothies are your friend.
even in a complete blizzard 4 stone walls and a nice fire will keep you warm.
also i've heard that the mega buses that pass through the highlands pull over and let you jump off at request, even if its not a proper stop. Could be useful if you want dropped off at the side of a road alone in the middle of nowhere
