Never even heard of a bivvy, but it looks like a tarp and one of those could easily work (and the basic campign supplies like the med kits etc.) Then, I could go touring a city for 3 or 4 days and stay in a decent hostel while I see the sights before getting back to the Bivvy camping. Theres some fairly cheap train tickets just to transit from major cities and through borders, but good to know that a bedroll and water source is all we really need to just nomad around. do you stock on food as well or acquire it local? I suppose eating egg mcmuffins for 3 days straight while hoofing it in europe wouldnt be bad.
