>>433249I know 2 people who use hobies with the mirage drive. Both have been hit by great whites while out fishing. Dont know if its the flapping fins on the bottom or if its the clicks from their fish finders but...damn.
>>433258get a sit on top.
>>433311 Hobies are great kayaks (with the mirage drive) they are stable and youd be surprised at the speed you can achieve. I have the hobie revolution which was a real game changer for me. I was able to be hands free while fishing. I could stay in the currents and drift much longer which made my catch ratio improve but..the weight capacity for them isnt the best. I carry crab traps and a bunch of gear and the ride is pretty low. I've had my son on mine a few times in lakes but i wouldnt recommend it for the ocean because of safety concerns. I bought a tandem sit on top for us to go out and paddle. Its a beast. Has 3 seats and i can paddle it myself from the center seat. Its a lot heavier though.
>>433313google wilderness systems kayaks or jackson kayaks.
>>433336the expensive nice kayaks are made of plastic also. fiberglass yaks are usually sit inside sea kayaks. Plastic is very common just check for cracks. though fixable its better to not have cracks in the hull.
>>433441yeah its not very hard to do. get a minn kota.
dont need the saltwater model just make sure you rinse it everytime. you make a bracket attached to a milk crate. add a few pad eyes, straps and a deep cycle battery. car batteries dont work for that long and dont take a full charge easy. the gel type batteries are light, small, and charge really well but they cost money. any other rquestions?
>>433459canoes can be tippy for fishing and dont work well in waves and lake chop. Though it is a fair recommendation for the guy that wants to bring his kid. 3/10
>>433538>hardest part is from sitting to standingtie a rope with a handle on it to the kayaks front handle and use it to pull and stabilize yourself when getting up and down.
