The climbs in Virginia got easy pretty quickly. The ascent to our highest point in the Appalachians, 3800 feet or so, was at something like a 4% grade.
We also got to get up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and ride along it for 15 miles or so. There wasn't much of a view at the time, but the atmosphere was pretty special, especially given that few motorists thought it was a good day for a scenic drive.
