Even expensive "survival" matches are a one-time-use item and are just as subject
to wind and rain as a lighter, while being FAR more bulky per light.
It's funny that hard-core backpackers will spend $9000 on a super-duper high-tech
spider silk backpack and other gee-wiz gear but when it comes to lighting a fire, they
insist on living in the 19th century.
