>>595307>>595309Most of my operating is on snowmobile/motorcycle.... phone's usually not relevant once I leave the highway. Even the trailhead's hit-or-miss as far as coverage goes.
>Be me, riding at >pic related years ago>Nice evening moto... late at night, decide i've had enough trails, work back to the main road to head back to the truck (Don't remember why I drove, but I did that night. Truck was parked at the north lot, I was about 10 miles south of the truck.)>On the main road, pass a SAR jeep>okay, a little late for training, whatever, keep moto'n>Pass another SAR jeep>hmm, yeah, that's really weird>Third jeep, slows and rolls window down, I roll up next to him>"Seen a little girl out here?">"No... missing person?" "Yeah.">"Need a hand? I've got the moto, know these trails well, first-aid/CPR trained, two-way in my pack and repeater capability back at the truck at the north lot.">"Uh... shit, yeah, we're staging at $TRAILHEAD, talk to command there">Turn around, moto back to $TRAILHEAD, talk to command>It's one of the guys I sorta know from SAR, he and I know each other, he knows i'm not just some goon on a moto out there>"Yeah, might need ya. We've got a moto crew on the way but I don't know their ETA.">Do a quick radio-check on their tac channel, hang out for a bit>Moto team shows up, clears me, "I'm heading back to north-lot, any trail preference? Okay, i'll take this trail back. ETA 1 hour. Will advise", thanks me, and I head on my way>Get back to north lot, nothing, radio back out-of-service-good-night>[story about drunk teenagers here, "Are you a cop??!!"]>moto home>riding same area a week or two later, stop by SAR training out there, talk to commander on that incident>Girl was found about 2 hours after I left, safe. Thanked me again.Having the ability to comm with first-responders is a real nice feature, especially if myself or someone in my crew ever needs assistance.
>Shitty pic, I should retake this one someday
