I am going to be visiting Seattle from Phoenix at the beginning of next month. I am mainly there to visit the city with friends but I want to dedicate a full day to do a difficult hike with some views.
I think the best option will be a trip to the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest because there seems to be a lot of really grand hikes within a 2 hours drive of Seattle.
I am looking at hikes like Navaho Peak which get to 7000'+. Is it a bad idea to hike that high during early-to-mid May because of the snow? I am planning to bring micro-spikes.
I am looking for something pretty remote because I am meeting up with friends from back East that haven't gotten that "I need to really poop" anxious feeling in your stomach and legs because you are so far removed.
