>>1343228I don't get out on the ocean as much as I'd like, but that being said; Don't wash your reel, wipe it off with a damp rag since washing can drive the salt deeper into the mechanism. Always have a few steel leaders with you, 6" works well for me but it depends on what toothy fish are around you. At low tide you can discern where sandbars and structure are or you can look for rips and swells in the current. Big slicks of smooth water are also a great sign that there's something obstructing the current near the bottom.
